70 ADDITIONAL AIR CADETS TO BE TRAINED IN THE NEXT SIX MONTHS

Tayside Aviation has been the sole United Kingdom contractor for the RAF Flying Scholarship Scheme - which is now referred to as the Air Cadet Pilot Scheme - since 1994.

Thousands of cadets have been trained by the company since then, and a new five year contract was awarded in 2003 with over 100 cadets trained last year and 125 allocated for this year. An extra 70 have just been allocated and must be trained before the end of the MOD financial year which is the end of March 2005.

Additional instructors may be required to cope with this unexpected surge in business and applications should be directed at the Managing Director at the Dundee address or [email protected]

TAYSIDE AVIATION SQUAWK SHEET

4 SEATER PROMOTIONS

Tayside Aviation has 3 PA-28's one located at each site and expects 2 F172's to be on line shortly

A discounted 4 seater conversion with consolidation package and an IMC training package are presently on offer as follows:

4 SEATER CONVEX - Convert to the 4 seater and rent for a total of five hours for a pre payment of only £550. The 4 seater convex normally takes 2 hours over two sorties at £129:60 per hour, plus the three hours at the £115.20 rental rate total £604:80, therefore the saving on this package is around £55. There can be no guarantee that the convex will be completed in two hours but if more that two hours (up to 5 hours max) are required there will be no extra charge. PPLs can also purchase 5 hour 4 seater rental packages for £550 a saving of £26.00

IMC RATING - 20 hours in the 4 seater and the IMC test fee for £2388 based on 18 hours IMC training (the minimum requirement is 15 hours which is difficult to achieve) and up to 2 hours for the skill test all of which are normally charged at the 4 seater training rate of £129.60. There would be no rebate for completing the course in less than 20 hours, but any savings on the 20 hours purchased would be used for PPL rental. The total cost of this package would normally be £2,662 including the test fee of £70 and this offers a total saving of £274. There can be no guarantee that the IMC rating and test can be completed in the 20 hours, and although it is unlikely that more than 20 hours would be required, any additional hours will be charged at the normal rates pertaining at the time.

These promotions will only be available until the 28th February 2005 and the flying has to be completed before the end of March 2005 for the 4 seater Convex package and the end of June 2005 for the IMC package.

NIGHT FLYING -

Night flying will be available on selected evenings which are available from the individual location. It is important to book slots in advance as the duty instructor will only stay on if there are bookings.

A discounted night rating package will be on offer until the end of February 2005 and this will involve 5 hours of flying training in the Cessna 152 for a pre payment of £550 saving almost £50. Any additional hours will be charged at the normal training rate of £119.40 per hour alternatively 10 hours of training can be purchased for £1,050 a saving of £144.

FLYING CHARGES -

These are normally reviewed in the spring each year and so to take advantage of the current rates the purchace of any cost saving package or just buying some hours in advance is always a good idea.

Further new schemes are being developed to enable frequent flyers to buy hours at effectivly discounted rates.(Please telephone for further details).

The last 2 Radio telephony courses were a great sucsess and the third course will go ahead somtime in February 2005. Monday evenings are the usual days as this seems to fit in with most people. The course consists of 10 hours of classroom work using powerpoint animated slides and will be held at Dundee over five evenings - run by Marjan Bledowski - R/T examiner, which will prepare you for both the written and practical tests required for both the NPPL or JAR PPL The class would start sharp at 19:00 hours and finish at 21:15 hours.
