PPL & NPPL Syllabus

The PPL & NPPL syllabus comprises:

Basic handling

This involves the essential flying techniques, which are vital to the rest of your training - effect of the controls, straight and level, climbing, descending, turning, slow flight and stalling.

Circuits
This involves learning the art of taking off and landing the aircraft, furthering your radio usage and the use of your checklists. During this part of your training, you will achieve the first big milestone in your quest for a PPL - your first solo flight, usually gained around 15 hours of flying

Advance handling
Your handling of the aircraft will now be taken to the next level. During this phase you will be introduced to practice forced landings, steep turns, instrument flying and other advanced exercises. This will enable you to confidently deal with abnormal situations as they arise with instruments, aircraft or weather conditions.

Cross country flying
This teaches the skills to get an aircraft from A to B and back safely. You will be taught navigation both visually and by radio instruments, dealing with unfamiliar airfields, airspace and air traffic controllers.

Skill test revision
This is the final section, which puts together all of the above to present to your examiner.

Your PPL course will also require you to sit and pass 7 exams, which are multiple choice. You will also be required to pass a practical radio telephony test. Our instructors are happy to offer ground school where required.
