Night Rating
Night rating may be completed as part of your PPL but can also be done on completion of your PPL. This course consists of 5 hours training, including 3 hours dual training and 1 hour night navigation.

Instrument Rating
Instrument rating consists of 50 hours instrument time under instruction for single-engine aircraft. To commence course you must hold a PPL including a night rating or a CPL, and a flight radiotelephony operators licence. You must also have completed 50 hours cross-country flight time as PIC.

Radiotelephony licence
Radiotelephony licence can be granted even if the individual does not hold a PPL or NPPL or similar. You require an Radiotelephony licence to operate a radio station either on the ground or in the air. The course consists of a theoretical written exam and a practical communications test.

Instrument Meteorological Conditions (IMC) rating
Instrument Meteorological Conditions (IMC) rating requires logbook evidence of having flown 25 hours after the issue of a PPL. Duration is a minimum of 15 hours.

Conversions

Due to the diverse fleet of aircraft owned by Tayside Aviation, we offer the facility for you to convert onto a different type of aircraft when you have attained your licence. You can convert onto one of the following: Cessna 172, Piper Warrior or Piper Arrow. Rates are competitive and we also tailor packages to meet your needs and requirements.
