Fife Airport Joining Instructions
Two main areas of concern are the town of Glenrothes for noise abatement and Portmoak Gliding Centre, 3..6nm west of the airfield.
Best landmark is the large open cast pit of Westfield which is, in fact, just 2nm 'west of the field'.
Circuits are to the south, left hand for runway 25 and right hand for runway 07. Overhead join preferred descnding deadside which is north of the airfield for both runways.
Runway 25 has a curved approach to avoid over flying the houses. Call for final at 30' to the centreline as you approach the golf course.
Runway 07 - avoid over flying the village of Kinglassie just southwest of the airfield. Base leg will be along the east side of the large open cast pit. turning final as you clear the village of Kinglassie.
Joining from the north : Fife is 16nm on Perth's 168 radial. If you aim between the two prominent hills (East and West Lomond) you are pretty much on track for Fife. Between the hills you will be 4nm to the north of the airfield.
Joining from the north east : Aim for Errol then head south for the two Lomond hills. This will keep you clear of Leuchars MATZ.
Joining from the south east : Fife is 37.8nm on St Abbs VOR 302 radial. Continued to North Berwick to the prominent hill of Largo Law (952) will give you a short water crossing and will keep you clear of Edinburgh CTR from Largo you are 8nm from the airfield.
Joining from the south : Routing through Edinburgh zone, exit at Kelty turning 070, 7nm will bring you pretty much on the runway centreline.
Joining from the west : Cumbernauld NDB 374 is 28.2nm and a straight track will keep you clear of Edinburgh zone.
